In Other Words

There were no classes on Friday because of Eid al Fitr so I took the chance to see HERAKUT’s live painting session at Fully Booked, The Fort.¬†HERAKUT are an artist duo from Germany made up of Hera and Akut, two graffiti artists with very opposite styles.

Beauty is a Sanctuary

Hera, my new goddess, has an incredible vision which she throws fearlessly onto the wall. (She’s also incredibly beautiful, friendly and funny.)

…while¬†Akut has this eye for detail, which he manipulates with a skill he probably learned with experience. Hera creates bold outlines and Akut fills them in.

But my favorite part of the mural has got to be…

Ang Kabataan

I really really love how they used very Filipino elements and images to paint their mural, because that makes it a gift from the artists to their audience. It also means that they learn something new wherever they go, which they bring to their next destination. That’s artistry.

Even though their talent intimidated me, they also inspired me and made me miss art. I wish I had more time and space to go back to it. Who knows, maybe I’ll make the time and space. In the meantime, let me just fangirl over Hera some more.

I told you I have been playing with pictures in the absence of words, so I have been borrowing pretty words from others instead. This quote attributed to Voltaire is among my favorites. I usually can’t relate to positivity quotes and advice because they require a degree of will that I just can’t muster. This one, however, speaks of disaster, which is the context I identify closer with.

Sing a good song this week, won’t you?

Sometimes you need to step back and take a second look before you realize how much something means to you.

Love is supposed to be unconditional, but sometimes we forget, and sometimes we love better in certain circumstances.

Lastly, find what’s really important to you and don’t lose sight of it.

You know those days where every terrible thing happens one after the other and you would just rather not face the day? Well, my Friday was not one of those days.

I have more pictures, especially of those two happy ladies I’m with, but you’ll have to wait until my midterm requirements are over. I am just so loaded with work. I have been neglecting my goals and my Project 365, but I promised myself I will make time for everything!

Some topics in draft that will, hopefully, find its way to your screen soon:
1. Things I’m not so good at
2. Finds & Faves
3. Fiction Crush
4. 365 update
5. January wrap-up

See you soon!
